Wabash National Installs Wind Turbine at Lafayette North Plant

LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Nov. 30, 2012 – Wabash National Corporation (NYSE: WNC) today unveiled a 55-foot wind turbine to help generate power for part of its truck trailer manufacturing plant in Lafayette, Ind. The 2.4-kilowatt wind turbine is quiet, non-polluting and will help reduce carbon emissions by approximately 25 tons annually.

“We are committed to the principles of environmental stewardship in all of our operations. This is one more step in our ongoing efforts to conserve energy, reduce waste and minimize our overall environmental impact,” said Dick Giromini, president and CEO, Wabash National Corporation.

Wabash National has put several environmentally-conscious initiatives in place over the past several years. Most recently, the company’s Lafayette, Ind. operations installed hand dryers in key locations to reduce paper towel usage. In addition, the company is using more energy-efficient lighting in plants and offices in Indiana and Kentucky.

“Our company-wide environmental initiatives are ongoing,” said Andrew Frisbie, Ph.D., director of environmental, health and safety for Wabash National Corporation. “We’ve identified a number of opportunities to further conserve energy and reduce waste in our operations.”

In addition, the company has restored natural habitats near its manufacturing operations to enhance the environment and protect wildlife. In July, Wabash National was recognized by the Indiana Wildlife Federation for minimizing its environmental impact. Wabash National has been registered with the ISO 14001 since 2005, requiring stringent compliance with environmental standards.
