Wabash National Corporation Honors Associates at Third Annual Military Appreciation Event

Company honors veterans and active military among workforce

LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Nov. 11, 2014 – Wabash National Corporation (NYSE: WNC) held its third annual event for active military and veterans among its workforce on Sunday, Nov. 9. The company recognized nearly 300 Wabash National associates who have served in a branch of the U.S. military.

“As a proud American company, Wabash National Corporation appreciates the sacrifices our military men and women, with the support of their families, make to protect our freedoms,” said Wabash National Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Dick Giromini. “We are honored to have nearly 300 military and veteran associates across the country, and we proudly pay tribute to them year-round on our Wall of Honor at the Ehrlich Innovation Center.”

The Wall of Honor is a permanent installation at the Ehrlich Innovation Center that honors and recognizes all Wabash National associates who have served, or are currently serving, in the military.

During the event, associates and guests made holiday cards for the American Red Cross’ Holiday Mail for Heroes program and assembled approximately 50 care packages for the 3rd Armored Cavalry Division in Afghanistan and 25 care packages for the Lafayette Transitional Housing Center. The Center’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families program works to help homeless or near homeless veterans and their families gain access to housing and services.

Special guests at the event included Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski; Indiana National Guard personnel Captain Scott Andrews, Sgts. 1st Class Kevin Maynard and Paul Sabol, Staff Sgts. Homer Farley, John Howieson and Odis O’Shields, and Sgt. Melissa Gregory; Gold Star Mother Amanda Gordon of Lafayette; and Gold Star Family Creighton, Christa, Katlyn and Kade Osborne of Lafayette.

During the event, Wabash National presented a $5,000 donation to the Lafayette Armory and U.S. Army Reserve Center to support initiatives such as the Family Readiness Group and Honor Flight Network. The company supports a number of local and national organizations and programs that assist military troops and their families, such as the Indiana Veterans’ Home and Wounded Warrior Project.

Wabash National also works with several veterans organizations to recruit soldiers returning from active duty. The training and leadership skills gained through their military experience are ideal for positions at Wabash National requiring leadership and strong inter-personal communication skills, such as warehouse management, production supervising, facilities management, transportation and logistics.
