Wabash National Corporation Honors Associates at Second Annual Military Appreciation Event
"As a proud American company, Wabash National Corporation appreciates the sacrifices our military men and women, with the support of their families, make to protect our freedoms," said Wabash National Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Dick Giromini. "We are honored to have more than 300 military and veteran associates across the country, and we proudly pay tribute to them on our new Wall of Honor at the Ehrlich Innovation Center."
The Wall of Honor is a permanent installation at the Ehrlich Innovation Center that honors and recognizes all Wabash National associates who have served, or are currently serving, in the military.
Special guests at the event included Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski; retired Maj. Gen. Erika Steuterman, a 34-year Air Force veteran; Sgt. 1st Class Paul Sabol and Sgts. Matt Gregory and Melissa Gregory of the Indiana National Guard; and retired Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient Justin Howton, representing the Wounded Warrior Project.
During the event, associates and guests assembled 250 care packages for the Indiana Veterans' Home in Lafayette, which provides independent living facilities and comprehensive care for veterans and their spouses. In addition, the company presented a $5,000 donation to the Lafayette Armory and U.S. Army Reserve Center.
Wabash National supports a number of local and national organizations and programs that assist military troops and their families, such as the Wounded Warrior Project and the Honor Flight Network. The company also works with several veterans organizations to recruit soldiers returning from active duty. The training and leadership skills gained through their military experience are ideal for positions at Wabash National requiring leadership and strong inter-personal communication skills, such as warehouse management, production supervising, facilities management, transportation and logistics.
